L’olio extravergine d’oliva produce una proteina (ApoA-IV) che protegge il cuore, lo studio è stato pubblicato sulla rivista specializzata Nature Communications.
I ricercatori del St. Michael’s Hospital di Toronto hanno scoperto che i livelli della proteina ApoA-IV aumentano quando si consuma con regolarità l’olio extravergine d’oliva. Questa proteina è fondamentale nella circolazione e quindi evita la formazione di possibili trombi che causano ictus e infarti.

I ricercatori erano già a conoscenza dell’importanza della proteina ApoA-Iv, quello che non sapevano e quanto scoperto ci porta a capire che i livelli aumentano se consumati cibi con discrete quantità di grassi insaturi. Questi sono presenti nell’olio extravergine di oliva che ha dunque un effetto importante nella prevenzione delle malattie cardiovascolari. La proteina impedisce la formazione di trombi e dunque le ostruzioni nelle nostre arterie. La molecola in questione pare si vada a legare a un recettore sulle piastrine per evitare che si possano unire tra di loro e causare i trombi. Secondo gli esperti le nuove conoscenze acquisite su ApoA-IV potrebbero portare a nuove terapie preventive e protettive per la salute cardiovascolare. Un’ulteriore dimostrazione di quanto la dieta sia fondamentale per la salute del cuore.
